We study cellular mechanisms generally act to indorse and maintain protein degradation in response to variety of metabolic and environmental stresses. Our main interest is in ubiquitin (Ub) and NEDD8 (a.k.a.Rub1 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae), two paralogous protein modifiers with key regulatory roles in proteolysis.
